The Venerable Charles Morris – Rector
Charles has been the Rector of St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, Picton, since March, 2014. He loves leading worship, preaching, visiting with parishioners – in short, he loves being part of this parish community. Since March 2016 Charles has been Archdeacon of Ontario, and in that capacity on occasion represents the Bishop of the Diocese of Ontario.
Charles has had careers both in the church and in the Information Technology business world and he brings a wealth of experience and insight from both those fields.
He enjoys amateur astronomy and he and his wife, Joan, are enthusiastic sailors.
Our Parish Deacon:
The Reverend Fran Langlois
Fran has been a member of St Mary Magdalene for many years. Ordained as a vocational deacon, Fran leads the Prince Edward County Anglican Ministry to Seniors, providing monthly communion services, visits, and support to seniors in facilities across the County.
Fran is also actively involved in the life of the parish, and assists most Sundays if she is not called away to other responsibilities.
Our Parish Curate:
Martha joined the team in September 2021 as a Lay Pastoral Associate. We look forward, God willing, to her ordination as a Deacon a little farther down the road, and later as a Priest. Martha supports all aspects of the ministry of our parish, with a particular focus on outreach.
Our Honorary Assistant Clergy:
We are very blessed to have five retired clergy-folk who are members of our parish community. The Rev. Bill Kidnew was a chaplain before he retired. Bishop Peter Mason was a parish priest, college principal, and Bishop of the Diocese of Ontario before his retirement; Peter often fills in for Charles when he is away. The Rev. David Hawkins, Canon Stan Whitehouse and The Rev. John Whittall all served in parish ministry before their retirements, and John frequently replaces Charles during his vacations.
